HILZ is a Meanjin-based singer-songwriter who has been making music for longer than she can remember.
After a long stint in musical theatre, in 2022 Hilz made the decision to finally take the plunge into releasing original music.
Since that decision, she has wasted no time. Her debut single ‘Circles’ emerged in 2022, and her first EP ‘Lie In Grey’ in 2023. Hilz’s latest single ‘Good Vibes’ was premiered live on stage at the Airlie Beach Festival of Music in 2024, her festival debut.
Hilz is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the hottest acts coming out of SEQ; in addition to being regular on 4ZZZ Airwaves and at venues across Brisbane, she is also a sought after commercial artist, gigging regularly in venues both public and private.
Not merely a dynamo performer, Hilz has earnt the respect of her peers by continuing to collaborate with a broad field of Brisbane’s brightest talents - from big bands (Mango Jam Big Band) to producers (Levi Russell and Adrian Carroll) to filmmakers (Jacob Richardson, FilmFocus Productions).
She writes and performs alongside her brother, Al (keyboard/guitar/bass), often appearing as a duo. In full band form, they are supported live by brothers-in-music Gabe (guitar) and Will (drums).
Hilz’s sound has been described as a fresh and modern take on pop with commanding powerhouse vocals, earwormy melodies, and searing “tongue in cheek” lyrics, augmented by an infectious punk attitude and kick ass stage presence.
Taking inspiration from everyone from Kimbra to Paramore to Barbra Streisand, the Hilz experience will draw you in and make you an instant fan.
